The lockkeepers do
the really hard work of opening and closing the lock gates. Boaters are
welcome to help our and most do.
The boat has to be
tied down at every canal lock. This process is repeated every two
kilometers or so. Here Marlene is tying up for the 100th time.
All the comforts of
home. Even a kitchen. The kitchen was useful for coffee in the
morning. No need to make meals on the boat with so many superb French
bistros and restaurants in the towns and villages along the canal.
View of the big
church in Auxerre from the marina (and our porthole)
Our boat
(on the left) docked for the night.
